So recently I’ve been super busy, unfortunately not in the realm of playing music in public.
My new job has me on the road quite a bit. I’ve seen quite a bit of southern Virginia from the northern neck, south to Virginia Beach, west to Mecklenburg county and a lot in between! Then I was around Schenectady NY for a couple weeks and now I’m concentrated in the western half of NY state. It’s been a lot of road time but I’ve seen some beautiful country, tasted a lot of local delicacies, and yes, taken in area’s music scene. I generally have a travel guitar with me so I can keep up on my practicing, and I’ve even played a couple open mics.
I’m actively looking for some local gigs, but it’s a pretty crowded field around here. If you know of anyone looking for a one-man show in the Carroll County area please hit me up. Anything will do, I just want to get out there!
Thanks for following!
It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to update this page.
I hope you’re all still following along.
Hopefully everyone has survived this crazy winter and is ready to put the snow shovels away for a while!
Here’s the latest…
Back in late October 2017 right before the last scheduled open mic at Cheers, I was out in Cockeysville performing at a friends open mic. When I got home I was carrying my guitar to the basement and slipped off the last step fracturing my right fibula and separating my ankle bones. I’m not sure I can describe the pain, but a lady I was talking to who had a similar injury said childbirth was a walk in the park in comparison!
In any case I was down for 7 weeks recovering, after which I started a new job that has me traveling quite a bit; so I haven’t had a chance to play out too much but I have been practicing.
It looks like winter may finally be releasing it’s hold on the northeast so the plan is to line up a few weekend gigs and get out to more open mics.
I’m looking forward to getting back to jamming with my friends and may take a stab at the Cheers open mics again if it fits in their schedule.
Unfortunately we had a very light turnout. The usual bass player hurt his back. Another regular took his wife to the fair (but did show up later!)
The Maryland Wine Festival is this weekend just up the road in Westminster, and just about every venue in Eldersburg had entertainment.
On the bright side, Chip, from a local duo called “Liberty Road” came out. We ended up jamming for over two hours! I learned a few of his favorites and he learned a few of mine and we played stuff we both knew.
There were a few people listening in and it made it worth lugging the equipment in. Thanks Chip!
Sally is back and we’re on for the 9th edition of the Open Mic and Jam at Cheers. Come join us!
Unfortunately, due to a lack of staff at the venue, the Open Mic scheduled for this coming Saturday had to be cancelled.
We are rescheduling for September 2. Yes, it’s Labor Day weekend but hey, let’s go for it anyway!
